The twist of that strip seems to have puzzled most Great Auk builders, myself included. I ended up beveling the bottom of the strip to follow the line. As it transitions behind the cockpit, the bevel is enough that the strip is almost triangular, so that the strip is lying almost flat. Shape, don't twist. It is one of those things that looks impossible until you do it. The picture below shows the deck sheer strip to the rear of the cockpit. You can see how the strip is ready to butt up to the almost flat deck strip.
