: I have the Craftsman 27957. Frankly its the worst piece of crap tool I've
: ever seen. I bought it last Spring, and on the first day it fell apart. It
: fell apart a lot! I tried locktite-ing it. I replaced the offending socket
: head screw with various anti-vibration solutions. From the first time I
: saw how the thing was held together I wondered what #@*&% designed this?
: BTW I'm pretty sure this was manufactured for Sears by Riobi. Then to top
: it all off it smokes and stops completely. My fault this time, (graphite
: powder (in epoxy) is a conductor, who knew? Shouldn't the motor be
: protected from the dust?).

Yeh, but then you'd only be able to run it for 5 minutes at a time before the motor melted down... needs ventilation..

I've used Craftsman tools almost exclusively for 30 years and I've never had that kind of problem with any of them...
My guess is, you got a lemon...
Did you attempt to take it back and get a replacement??? They DO have a fairly good policy for this sort of contingency.... Expecially for a first time use...

I've had a DeWalt fall apart on me ( belt sander ), and it just started squealing and melted... I don't blame the sander or give them bad press for it... I got a new one. It has worked great for years.

: Is it one bad one in a bunch? not if the other have the same fastening
: method. I'm looking at Porter Cables now.

Good Luck and sorry you had to suffer through that experience.. it happens!!
