Maybe I'm an idiot, but a "rolling bevel" just didn't work for me. I took someone's advice and tried it. I couldn't get the strips to match up. Plus, not having the bead and cove to hold two adjoining strips together led to several raised and lowered strips - a real mess. (I was trying this at the beginning of the process when I'd never done a stripper before.) I switched to bead and cove after about 5 strips - much better.

One other note: My router table setup wasn't exactly the best. There was some wobble, resulting in beads and coves which aren't always centered, resulting in a bit of a "shoulder" on the beads. I discovered rather late in the process that if I kept all of the shoulder sides the same way I would have less sanding to do later to make a smooth surface. I put the shoulder sides to the inside of the boat so that the smoother surface would end up on the outside where it was more visible.
