Hi Nick,

As far as the thickness of the hatch itself I would guess the thickness to be @ 5/16" thick using 6 oz. glass inside and out. But that will vary depending on how much fairing you need to do prior to glassing as well as sanding after glassing. I would just use 1/4" for the hatch dimension. As far as the lip that also varies depending on how many layers of glass you use tomake up the lip as well as how thick you build up the epoxy. my best guess would be about 3/32". Based on the dimensions you provided I can't see ever going beyond .475" that's an very thick deck/lip.

: Hi,

: I've been toying with the idea of using a new latch for my hatches, but I
: need some measurements before I can figure out which model I need. Given
: that I am planning ahead, and I don't have my boat fiberglassed yet, I
: can't measure my own. I've been using 1/4" strips, and I plan on
: using 6 oz glass, with the typical fiberglass lip for the hatches. Can
: anybody, tell me the total thickness of the hatch cover, and the total
: thickness of the fiberglass lip? Would it be between .075 -.475"
: (2-12mm) or .475 -.885" (12-22.5mm)?

: Has any ever tried these latches before? Seems like they would work well.
