Hi Glenn ,

I think Cove and bead is good for a first time builder that has little experience using a plane. I built my first boat that way. On my next boat I did the hull cove and bead and the deck rolling bevel but joints. I found I could get a nicer end product with rolling bevel. I found that even if I got a great joint using cove and bead that after I faired the hull/deck that I would strip off the cove edges and open up a gap. Time wise it make no difference they both take about the same time. In other words the time you gain by not milling strips is time lost when you plane the edges. I have six boats built with both methods and I prefer but joints.
