Wes,
The way I get my gunwales out is to cut a 1 1/2" thick piece of wood to width say 2 1/2"-3" de3pending on what's in the 2X6. I then lay out my mortices and cut them with a plunge router, using a jig. Next I split the thickness on my table saw so depending on which blade I'm using at the moment my gunwales will be between 11/16" to just a hair under 3/4" thick,
