It's not a religeon; you can use either or both without worrying about going to hell for it :D Each technique has its advantages. B&C gives you easier alignment side to side; otherwise, with beadless, it takes time to check every strip. Use yellow glue so you can go back and loosen/realign spots if necessary. That said, I like beadless because it's nice to see the bevels snug up; that joint is buried under B&C and a gap sometimes emerges when you start to plane the finished hull. Beadless is also pretty easy and is a must for inlays IMHO. Figure you have both techniques at your disposal so design your process for maximum fun and maximum ease.
