Yes, you get some weave pattern. Like you said, this is good for some types of graphics, not all. You can also do it with tissue paper or rice paper. I like the idea of not having anything but the ink in the finish. Ink is a problem also. Color does not hold up well in U.V. light. The butterfly I did for my little ones boat is now black and green, so I will only do black graphics now. The Clarksville Boat Works is about 2.5 inches, so it is O.K. for smaller graphics. The larger Love Shack is six or seven inches across, and I think turned out right nice!
