S&G: chines/fillets/glassing

ok,,I should know this but looking for thoughts. For a four panel hull is there any reason to use tape if the panels are glassed on both sides with 6oz cloth? I'm thinking about pre-glassing panels with 4oz on the inside and just curious about the absolute necessity for a particular construction. At what angle of side/bottom panel (load irrelevent) can a fillet suffice and when does glass have to bridge over the fillet? For deck/hull joined with tape on the interior is 6oz cloth sufficient compared to 9oz tape?
