I don't have any data to give you. But, consider that most of any force that gets applied to the panel will concentrate at the chine joint. Anything you do to stiffen up the panels will serve to increase this stress concentration at the joint.
From a strength standpoint, I would rather tape the joints and forego the glass on the panel than the other way around.
If I were going for super-light I might consider not putting any glass on the inside, neither the joint or the panel. But I would still put some glass over the outside of the joint.
