: Chris-

: After I had my wife run hysterically into the basement (where, of course, I
: was playing with wood) to tell me that a gent (with rifle) was looking at
: my 6-year-old on her playset in a threatening manner, that was my first
: instinct. When I mentioned the incident to the County zoning chief, he
: suggested I should have dispatched the moron. Unfortunately, due to
: circumstances, I'd be nailed. Also, I'm not too sure if I'm comfortable in
: the role of idiot exterminator.

: We had a sitting county judge admit at a hearing that he stood on our
: fenceline and watched his buddies shoot into our property, as much as
: 1000'. Tough to fight city hall, and zoning dept, and judges, and.... with
: little kids standing there. They actually tried to press charges against
: me for taking the picture that was in the earlier post. Call it 'hunter
: harrassment'. Taking a picture. Life in Ohio. :) Mike

Better than having other hunters, buddies, etc. shooting into their range. Find out if anyone in your area likes to shoot off homemade cannons. When the shooting range is at its busiest (probably during the weekend) invite a bunch of the cannon guys over (especially mortars, they are not meant to launch their balls high into the air, not really for precision shooting, which can be a plus since your neighbors don't know where the mortar ball will end up :)) and let them fire away from your property. Make it a BBQ party every weekend and you might see it end, especially if, like the other guy said, you can get the cannon guys aim their fire near to where these rednecks park their trucks.

Perhaps, make it so that one weekend its cannons and mortars, the next its large trebuchets and pneumatic guns, perhaps the next weekend spud guns, then repeat the cycle. (big smile)

Personally, had any of those guys aimed their guns at any of my family or threatened me while holding their gun on my property, I'd take them out with my bow (though it probably would not have been the day the threats were made, I would wait until the next day that I found that person on my land) and claimed self defense. I have nothing against guns (used *_RESPONSIBLY_* which obviously some people do not know how to do), but prefer my Silent Death.

Good luck,
Paul
