We use to use milled fiberglass at my old workplace that was like dust, that we use for fillets when mixed with epoxy. I doubt if that had any more strength then mixing with wood dust. But I have bought fiber glass strans about 1/4 to 1/2 inch long that I use for reinforcements in certain places. It is hard to use and I usually use my gloved fingers to tuck it into the areas where I want to use it. This stuff should be very strong. For instance I used it at the stern and bow of my kayak inplace of end pours and I tucked this stuff in before adding the deck which made it easy to do. It also makes laying fiberglass cloth easier since you are laying up against the nice big radiuses instead of trying to get back into sharp corners. I don't remember these short fibers being expensive.
