Material: Do hybrids always have S&G hull, strip deck?

Just curious. All the descriptions and photos I've seen of hybrids have this combination. Never the other way around.
I'm thinking the S&G hull is to save build time (and maybe get some added strength from the plies), but it seems there might be a good reason to build a "reverse hybrid" with strip hull and S&G deck: namely, more choice of hull shapes.
