: Hi folks,

: Does anyone know where one can buy the metal footwell or hull venturis that
: suck water out of a boat at 2mph or higher. They are typically used in
: marathon racing canoes and new Surfski and Outrigger canoes and I would
: like to add one to the hull of a boat I plan on building. If anyone knows
: of a boat manufacturer or tool manufacturer that sells these please let me
: know.

: Thanks,

I found some last year by searching thu Google with "bailers" "rowing bailers" and related terms like that. I didn't keep the sources after talking with surf ski builders in San Diego and rowing instructors there who assured me they would not draw at kayak speeds. They thought 5 plus mph would be necessary. Then I saw where SEDA uses one on their sit on top.
I think you can increase their efficiency by putting a "venturi bump" just ahead of them on the bottom of the hull.
I still may try it sometime. Wish you luck with it and if it works let us know.
