: I was wondering if anyone had ever used Crayola "Model Magic" in
: the construction of a seat. My mother uses it for christmas tree ornaments
: like it was cookie dough, and it seems a lot like seat foam. It would be a
: good way to get a relatively lightmeight seat shaped to fit. I won't be
: using it at least for a while. I already have a seat for my kayak in
: production, but I thought someone else might be interested.

I've seen my kids using it and I have handled it my self. I don't think it has any sort of strength to be used as a seat. I have read, in this forum, that some guys have sprayed foam into garbage cans then sat on the bag to form the base for a custom seat. Once the foam has set they've removed it from the bag and carved it to the desired shape. Another possibility is to build a S&G seat. A S&G can be purchased for about $40 CDN and can be sanded to the shape of your hull. Check out the Waters Dancing link below. I use that seat on my WD Lightning 17, it's very comfortable. I've lined it with a double layer of mini-cell foam for comfort. To see the seat, go to the menu choice "Choosing Your WD Kit" then scroll down to the seat pictures. There should be at least two seat images. The seat is tractor seat shaped.

My $0.02.
