: Yo Jeff

: Honest mistake. Shouldn't be a problem ... measure twice cut once ;) .

: Flyfisher has become a prolific kayak building character and has a nice
: precise of his great auk building exercise:

: I actually wanted to build a great auk as practice for the ultimate
: expedition single. Sadly "The minister of war" said no more
: kayaks, so I have had to launch into the expedition single project.

: So, I am kind of jealous of your efforts. Keep up the good work; don't
: hesitate to use the heat gun on any reluctant strips. And while staples
: are good, avoid using too many, where a good dose of heat gun and 1 staple
: will work better.

: Don't forget to tape or wax your forms to stop the strips being glued to them
: (in my haste to lay down those first sweet stips - I did :o .

: Cheers Pete

I'm building the expedition single, and have managed to :
-Put all forms (and bow and stern) in place, but forgetting to transcript alignment lines to the back of the forms (guess how alignment is done then - NOT!)
-Next discovered that my strongback was warped just a little bit, so i had to take all forms off the strongback (once more) and cut the center holes some mm's bigger.
-Third i forgot to turn the forms with the original front towards the bow/stern from the middle of the strongback (this time i decided to let the forme stay on the strongback, but alignment was not as easy as it could have been).

As a side benefit, i have discovered, that i have become more meticulous about what i do in general, and i do not try to take short-cuts as often as i used to, just 6 months ago.
