The cockpit cutout from Newfound was 16.5 by 28. Definetly on the small side. I think I'll go with the same width, but 3 inches longer, to accomodate my knees.
Thanks for all the help, I'll be cutting out the cockpit this afternoon, and starting work on the coaming. I've decided to use the vertical strip method, rather than the plywood cutout method.

Now, who here thinks I can get the kayak in the water before New Years Day?
