In the English speaking world I think "clinker" means "lapstrake". This type of construction has many issues that are completely absent in strip building. For instance, clinker construction demands precisely layed-out planks not a pile of uniformly cut sticks. Clinker requires carefully cut rolling bevels for the overlaping joints not the shoulder to shoulder lay-out of strips. The strippers we build must be 'glass composites. Clinker boats have an integrity that allows them to be sailed in the all-wood state.
I guess we're still looking for a book on building LARGE boats using the strip technique.

: I've done some searching for strip built boats and found some Iain Oughtred
: designs that are pretty nice looking boats. (www.classicmarine.co.uk)

: He has a book as well that I picked up from Chapters (Clinker Plywood
: Boatbuilding)...the process is much the same as building a kayak, just
: wider strips...
