I had an ugly area on the deck that I hemmed and hawed over until I finally ripped out the 4 or 5 strips that were bugging me. It was a good decision. That said, if there is nothing wrong visually, you may want to try getting a cam ratchet strap around the offending area, wet it down a bit and hit it with a heat gun while slowly tightening the strap. Leave the strap in place for a couple of days and see if it tames the wayward strips. I had to do that on an area in my stern that was pulling away from the forms and getting a bit fat.
Keep at it. All boats go through the "RUB" (really ugly boat) stage. It is amazing how your perspective will change when you get all the metal out, scrape off the glue drips and hit it with the plane for the first time.
