Add some mass to the ends of the boat to maintain a more stable temperature without needing lights or heaters.

Put the end in a bucket of water -- same procedure as usual for cooling the end pour. You can start with water which is room temperature (about 70 degrees) and it will keep the end of the boat warm enough so that the reaction starts. Once the epoxy starts to polymerize it will heat things up and the mass of the water will help to draw out some of that heat (so it doesn't get too hot) The bigger the bucket the more of a heat sink it will be, and the more temperature stable.

If you find the water in the bucket dropping in temperature, jsut add more lukewarm or room temperature water. After a few hours you can remove the end of the boat from the bucket. This should be long before the water in the bucket gets cold enough to completely freeze.
