John,
Thanks for trying out the "woman" idea as a paddler. Some of the others have put in some good comments...I like the idea of the hair being strategically placed to highlight what might be underneathe (breasts). As it is, the split personality is a bit scary, (as was one comment). I like the way the woman's hips flow into the lines of the boat at the cockpit area. I'm not sure the tools are necessary because the plans diagram that makes the boat, communicates the design and building aspects of Mr. Schade's web site. I'm of the opinion that the graphic of the woman doesn't really match the sketching style of the Da Vinci original, but to tell you the truth, I like the way the woman looks better, though as Mike mentioned it takes away from the reference to human beings being a central aspect of science and nature as that relates to the Da Vinci sketch.
What ever you end up with, it will be great! It seems that with all these ideas on T-Shirt Designs, there's plenty of comments from the gallery. In the end, it's your show.
If you decide to go with a woman paddler, that incorporates a certain element of the erotic, if your intentions remain respectful, concentrating on the beauty of the female form (as that relates to the beauty of the kayak form) it will go over well....that's the difference between nudity as fine art, and nudity as porn....but then, you knew that already!
