In Response To: What Exactly Happened With The First (sing)

Paddling out or trying to catch a wave it will heal over to about 10 -> 15 degrees. I have never paddled a craft before that did this and I haven’t found anyone else who has. Needless to say it is problematic when taking off!

I made fairly standard sized fins and glassed them on. In this configuration I was not able to turn on the rail like a surf craft, but I was able to horse it around with the paddle. With the fins cut down to 3/4 inch I was able to turn on one rail but as soon a I tried S turns I would catch the beach side rail every time.

I now own 3 surf kayaks and a wave ski, and two touring kayaks. The surf yak is the lowest performer of the surfing group. Both of my other surf kayaks are 5+ year old prototypes and my wave ski it at least 8 years old. I want a boat that performs better than the ones I already have.

Also frankly I was starting to get embarrassed. I paddle with several designers and they would shake their collective heads at me every time I brought this boat out after the first time. I have been sat down and had all the wrong things about the boat pointed out to me.

: Anyway, I'm formulating my own R&D, mostly off my Trickster. I am looking at
: tri plane hull bottom for easier edge transitions but want minimal rocker
: in the stern. Will also do a tri fin set up rather than dual on the
: Trickster.

You may do better using a surf kayak or a wave ski as the R&D base.
