:Baum, I finished a regular Guillimot off the plans in the book this time last year. I did an overnight trip in may. The boat is a tight fit for gear. I had a warm down bag, it's still cool at night in Alaska in may, which I had to stuff up away from the hatch. I had a two man tent, food, dry clothes, water, beer, stove, etc. It was a tight fit but it was also my first attempt. With some practice and adjustment I think you would be able to go for several days, I plan to this summer. The boat is not scary in at least up to a 2' wind chop. Surfing that stuff was fun. It is amazing though the different perspective regarding wind and waves with a kayak compared to a 34' sailboat. The whole experience of building the boat and then paddling it in the ocean is way cool. You won't regret it if you go for it.
