: Anyone have any feelings about this? For a given kayak and a given power
: output, what is the effect of water temperature on speed? Lets discount
: the case of temperatures below 32F at which point speed tends to be either
: very fast or very slow depending on where you were when that temperature
: was reached.
I have been told, by a mech engineer who designs thermal energy storage systems, that water's maximum density is at 39.2 degrees Fahrenheit. So if you cool water below 39 degrees your thermal energy storage tank contents will flip upside down and screw up your thermocline. How 'bout them apples. Figure that into you speed equation. I never could tell the difference between pepper and fly specks.
