On my Atlantic I cut the recess at an angle using a Porter Cable jigsaw with angled base. Then the strips had a bevel put on them by hand before laying them in. The bevel allowed the strips to rest on the angled cutout so that the strips supported themselves, and also gave more gluing surface. Before I 'glassed I dropped my sander right on the recess (accidentally, of course) and it didn't budge.

Will the stripe run right through the recess?
