Steve,
If I'm not mistaken the Fast Touring (BK57) is one of Percy Blandford's designs.
In fact, everything with the same prefix in the CC catalog can be attributed to him.
Percy started designing these boats long ago for British Sea Scouts. A book that Percy published about his boats showed some scouts and their leaders working on their boats wearing the required shirt, tie and sweater.
I thinks the reason these boats have been around for so long is that Percy knew that they had to be "scout proof".
Good luck.
Charlie

: Hi Paul,

: The boys will have one kayak (the ones we are building now), and then they
: can help the rest of the troop build theirs.

: I used the Baltic Birch plywood. The plans call for 3/8" thick. My
: lumber yard had to order it, but it only took 3 days. One 5'x5' sheet was
: enough for all 3 sets of ribs. These boats will see light use and a couple
: coats of varnish should be good enough.

: Steve
