: output, what is the effect of water temperature on speed? Lets discount
: the case of temperatures below 32F at which point speed tends to be either
: very fast or very slow depending on where you were when that temperature
: was reached.

Concerns about minuscule ways to increase speed are only a matter of concern to someone who races. In a race, though, all the competitiors would be paddling (or rowing) in the same water. If one went faster or slower, then another would also. since all parties would gain or lose speed equally, the outcome of the race would depend (still) only on all the other factors.

Just a thought
