: Why the
: vortex?

The Vortex and the Intruder are the two newest boats to hit the market and they are the only boats that have been designed to surf from the tail like the newest HP waveskis from South Africa. As I said I want a kayak that handles like a wave ski. Might as well start with the highest performance boats. I have paddled the Vortex's granddaddy and talked with the owner of the ski and have found that you must take off very late to catch a wave, but once you are on it this thing shreds! As for the Intruder looking at the video I shot and other video I have been editing it looks like it is fairly easy to catch a wave and it also handles very well.

At this time I have a Vortex ski in my garage and will be gathering data on how to duplicate this hull. Then I will shelf the data. I am working with the designer of the Intruder on replicating his design in wood. This will be the boat I produce first.

I will be in Ventura on the 17/18th of next month for the fist competition that these two boats will be going head to head. I will be taking a lot of video.

Other projects that I am thinking of is to take a look at the Cyclone and seeing if a better long boat can be designed for those huge days.

I would like to give people the chance to have an inexpensive quiver of boats to handle a variety of conditions.
