Hi Ken,

Thank you. I've been working on this off and on for a year now. Yes, my first kayak was an Endeavor as well. I didn't run into much trouble with variations in levels on the accent strips. What I do is make the accent strips out of 1/2 inch material and then run them through my planer several times until I get it just right at the 1/4 inch mark. This erases imperfections in my glue-up and helps the basswood to match up with the feature strip. It wastes a lot of wood but it also compensates for uneven gluing and clamping. I haven't perfected the fine art of sharpening a scraper yet but am looking forward to learning.
