I've just about finished the box. I think I'll put a couple more coats of lacquer on it. I started work on it a few years ago, but it never went anywhere. I restarted work when I started building my kayak, and this got finished first. It's built to fit around an old family bible, not the oldest, but the one with my family name on it.

Right now the box has a custom mix of Solar Lux stains. Yellow Maple, which is really orange, and Dark Walnut. On this is a coat of sanding sealer and three coats of lacquer.

BTW, about half the work was just in the dovetails, I refuse to use a power tool to cut such a traditional joint.
