Strip: Progress on Great Auk

Thanks to the advice of the members, I successfully got the sheer strips in and passed the difficult transition area on the deck. With that done, I completed the deck with ease.

The next challenging task is to do the inlay work on the deck. Since I fish out of my kayak, I want a fish theme. I decided to inaly a series of fish, rom the bow to the stern, each larger than the one before it. Also, each of the fish has its jaws open to eat the one before it. My kayak is made of cypress so it is light in color. I am using dark WRC for the fish inlays.

My plan for doing the inlay is to use a laminate trimmer (small router) to route out the bulk of the fish area to a depth of 1/8 inch. I will then use one of my chisels to finish the inlay area. I then plan to fill in the recess with the WRC.

Does this seem workable?
