Chuck I am just now putting on my coaming risers and I too was worried about the strength of where the riser meets the deck edge. What I am doing is putting a ledge glued onto the bottom of the cockpit and sticking out for the risers to set on. That way I get two one forth inch edges for the riser to glue to and I get a smooth bottom that I don’t have to trim later on. The walnut ledge shows up well in the back of the cockpit picture. The walnut ledge material is 1" wide strips and about 5/8" or more is reinforcing the bottom of the cockpit and will make it even stronger. I am putting it all together with Dookie Schmutz.
