Randy,,I'm under the impression that two layers of a lighter and finer weave cloth has the benefit of reducing the amount of epoxy needed for a given thickness of fill coat. Also that for a given impact the greater number of fibers in the doubled layers of the same weight as a thicker cloth reduce the distance fractures can travel. I wonder if we're talking about 5-10% differences that can be changed with s-glass or simply adding another lb worth of glass and resin in select places.
