Regarding gouge resistance, if we assume the same glass content, say 8 oz/sqyd, the only significant benefit of two layers over one layer would be the epoxy between the two layers. In a gouging scenario, it is possible to argue that the interlaminar epoxy could help prevent damage of the underlying layer by providing an easy path for damage propagation. But if that argument were valid, I would not expect much meaningful difference.

The real benefit of two layers over one layer occurs when two layers contain more glass.

: Do you know if the layering helps also? Would two layers of 4 ounce be better
