i am using the plastic "keepers" type footbraces. i got them cheap, as surplus, from the local supplier. the mounting is a 1/4-20, stainless, t-nut, captured under several layers of leftover 2" seam tape. i had to drill the footbrace rail mounting hole to accept the outside diameter of the t-nut. i also countersunk the mounting hole so the pads can be removed. they work great and look good.
