I do it all the time and never have any streaking. I use small foam rollers (hot dog size), roll on a small area at a time and then tip off and then move on to the other side. The trick is to do a small area and keep a wet edge, bringing your foam brush from the dry area into the wet. The only area that this does not work is around and under the coaming rim where I just use the foam brush that I am using to tip off with.
