: Is there an important reason to plane the B&C off the shear strips other than
: possible damage to the edges of the cove?
: I built my Guillemot leaving the B&C intact, treated it carefully, and when I
: joined the hull and deck they snapped together like a Kinder Egg, so I
: glued the joint just like the others, strapped the two together, let it
: dry, taped the seam, no problem!
: Just wondered.

Very happy to hear your experience went well! Working on two Guillemots (my first(s)) that will be ready for glass next week, and I've left the B&C on the sheers as well. My biggest fear was (and still is) the (hopefully just) slight deformation from glassing making it a bear to line the B&C's up. With the joint's contact area being greater and keyed w/ the B&C, it just made sense to me to give it a shot. Glad yours went well, and wish me luck!
