: Hi All,
: I'm using 3/16" strips and have been holding off routing beads and coves
: on them. I was wondering if there is a difference in rigidity of the
: finished kayak if I simply go with a beveled edge. I know the glue is
: usually stronger than the wood. If the glue has a greater surface to bind
: to (bead and cove) will the hull become more rigid. I ask because I don't
: have any experience with a beveled edges only hull. I don't want my hull
: oil-canning if I can help it.

Hi John,
It won't make any difference in hull strength unless you're going for really light glass. The resistance to oil-canning has more to do with the glass strength and its spacing from each other. As long as the core material prevents sheer movement between the laminates it won't oil-can.
Unless you over tighten transport straps.
