I had some brass rod kicking around so I drilled a hole in the knob and inserted a piece of brass rod in which I had drilled and threaded two holes plus a through hole. The cable goes through the brass rod and the setscrews lock the cable in place. The setscrews are long enough to prevent the brass from coming out of the knob.
