Just looked at Robert Morris' book and he indicates a 3/4 X 1 keel stringer for better tracking but I can't figure if it's supposed to be 1" deep or 3/4".
If you have the ribs in place already, you can test for skin to rib clearance. Temporarily lash a piece of stringer stock and drape a line over the hull frame to see how much clearance there will be. I'd aim for at least 1/2" of clearance midway between the keel and chine.
I used the thinner keel stringer, about 8mm, and need secondary stringers. A 3/4 keel would have given me enough clearance, so that should work.
BTW, if your stringer stock is already 3/4", use that. Why waste resources?
