Hi Glen,
It might be spring fever. You know, fiddling with kayaking gear when it's already ready because the water is starting to be wet and beaconing but not quite yet.

Is the water still hard in your area? It's wet all year here, we just get weather and the occasional 100-150kph winds. And 50-80kph more often. And waves of 4m+, up to 10m offshore. Not really paddling conditions.
But, tis Spring when everything starts getting boisterous.

Of course, it'll probably be perfect paddling weather for the next 6 weeks or so. Damaged ribs, no paddling. :(

At least from May on, the water starts getting warmer, above 12C. It's about 10-11C now.
