: The Qaanaaq is sort of interesting. I saved the packing cardboard from my
: ply. Might have to mock that up and see what I think. How do you enter and
: exit that? Can you bend you legs and get them out?

Mocking up any kayak opening is a great way to see what you can squeeze in and out of. The Qaanaag shape is really a modified ocean cockpit with some of the benefits of both. The deck is very close to you for charts, etc. Once inside your legs have more contact with the boat. Both my customers love theirs and would have made the opening a bit smaller (about 2" less front to rear). Like the others said, the angle the cockpit is to the deck makes a huge difference in ease of entry/egress. I found I could enter either way:

1. Sit on the rear deck, put both feet in and slide in both legs at the same time (OC way).
2. Cowboy entry (if your flexible enough... my long legs make it tough but doable: sit in the cockpit with your legs straddling the sides and slide one in then the other similar to in a keyhole.

: I assume you have to make your own skirt? All I am really looking for is a
: nylon touring skirt anyway.

No you don't need to make your own. Several manufacturers, like Snapdragon, will custom make one for about $10 extra. Actually one of my customers used an off the shelf skirt with his.
