Have you tried the WRC Lumber Association retailer search?
http://wrcla.org/purchasing_cedar/retailers.asp
Other wood species you might look into if WRC is too expensive or unavailable:
White pine (southern equivalent to WRC)
SPF (yes, construction grade lumber - its cheap!)
Radiata and other pine species (heavier, but easily found in perfectly clear boards at big box hardware stores)
Eastern/Southern Red Cedar (yes, blanket chest cedar - you CAN find it in clear lengths, color is quite pretty...)
Catalpa (long shot, might have to ask local saw mills who cut damaged/discarded trees - its relatively light weight for hardwood)
Chestnut (pretty light weight for a hard wood, but likely quite expensive if you find it at retail, perhaps not too bad if you find it as salvage material)
Redwood (now that I think about it, probably as difficult to find as WRC in the south...)
Balsa would the the ultimate in light weight woods, and its readily available in cut strips from hobby stores everywhere. Might look into opening a whole sale account to save a little money on the mountain of 3 foot strips you'd need!
: I live in Florence, SC and have called all around and can't find a verity of
: cedar. Does anyone have any tips on where to find some or even any cedar
