: Actually the wood under clear unpainted glass looked good and I paddled it a
: bit that way. Some were aghast that I painted it, but I took little effort
: to arrange strips in a nice graphic pattern. From a woodworking standpoint
: it was a bit plain. My King has the same glass, but only one layer. It
: looks better than many, but it's hard stuff to work with and takes a big
: effort to get wet out. With two layers the clarity is fine. It's the fine
: weaves propensity for hanging onto micro bubbles that causes problems. I
: spent a lot of time with a heat gun in one hand and squegee in the other.
: I have small patches of bubbles here and there that show up when the light
: hits them just right. Of course you have to be up close to see them. And I
: did not work the issue as hard knowing paint was in the future. Inside the
: hull with only one layer I think most people would agree that the glass
: looks fine. One issue is trying to make the stiff cloth bend around a
: tight radius. I have an area like that where the recess is closest to the
: hull. Try as I might the glass would lift a bit and produce a few bubbles.
: I filled a couple of the largest ones and let the smaller ones be hidden
: by paint. It was not a structural issue. The hull is about a solid as a
: glass pop bottle.
Hi Ted,
When you use the heat gun, do you do this aftet the stage where you've applied and squeegeed the epoxy from the glass? What effect does using the heat gun have, if any? Do you have to be careful about pushing epoxy around or accelerating the curing of the epoxy?
thanks
