I agree that using a gram scale would be more exact and allow for very small batches. I used the postal scale because it was available. (I first reached for a gram scale I have for teaching but the transformer wasn't in the box). the $14 Harbor Freight scale looks like a good deal.
I've wasted a lot of epoxy mixing up the minimal amount which was still too much for some small task. Also how much material is wasted inside all those sticky cups? What I immediately noticed when I started pouring onto the scale was that I could pour only as much resin as I thought I needed and then just had to do a little simple math to come up with the hardener.
Hi Henk, I'm just laminating two 1 x 4 redwood boards to carve out a Greenland Paddle. I figured laminating two boards would make it stiffer and stronger than just using a 2x4. I considered putting some fiberglass or carbon fiber cloth in between but didn't find anything on the net about using cloth between layers.
