Hi Bill,

There is a cycle that Japan and other countries have went through but I can’t but feel this one is different for the US more then any other country. We are deeply indebt as a country and as a people. We have a negative saving rate, meaning we are spending more then we save as a people. This differs from Japan in that their 10-year deflation period was caused from saving and not spending as compared to us spending and not saving. Mass higher education is the key I think for getting out of our mess and I don’t see that happening any time soon. Actually we are falling behind the rest of the world in education. The sad thing is while the world is trying to achieve a better standard of living by burning fossil fuels, that will cause a lower standard of living with global warming as the by-product. The example below was in the news just this morning.
