I have been using short foam rollers with success too. You might need to tip off the epoxy with a brush or foam as it can produce tiny bubbles. You can use the "spungy" side of cheap scrubbing pads for this. Cut the pad into smaller pieces and push a piece of a "pointy" strip into it and you are good to go - or buy a ready-made.
The carbide scraper is a really great tool (and fast) for removing soft runs and drips. Get a large and a small one (i.e. 50mm and 2,5mm) but remember to grind off the pointy corners of the blades or you WILL make a mess ;-)
If you get a roller that can be cleansed in acetone, you can re-use it. Just pop in in a can with acetone for a day or two, take it up and dry it again and it is clean (not environmentally safe though).
