Hey Mike,

Yes, it does require you to be IN China with your manufacturing presence and yes, there are business issues that need to be resolved in order for that to take place.

This is something like Toyota and Honda putting up factories in the US so they can more effectively access the US auto market.

Yes, I'm aware that there are few moral and ethical restrictions in China when it comes to business issues. I'm afraid that it will lkely stay that way for years to come until their design capacities mature and begin to develop innovative goods. Then they'll become as sensitive to having their design solutions swiped and see them being made down the road by a cousin.(or in some cases, by the same factory owners under a different company name)

By that time, I suspect, the cheapest goods will be made in Africa and it will be China who imports vast quantities from that continent to feed the demands from their own middle class consumers. When the Africans start stealing the Chinese intellectual property and selling it for their own profit, the Chinese will think differently about observing International norms for patent, trademark and copyright respect.
