Q,
Not many believe it but, most variations of strip building have been thought of long ago and the stuff you do not see is because it was tried and prooved not to be practical.
1. 4mm plywood has only three veneers. If you use it for strips you will sand most of the outer veneer of if you attempt to round the hull and what is left will be VERY thin.
2. Strips are usually made from long pieces of lumber because the grain runs the length of the piece. That means it will scribe a fair curve if bent and it has the elasticity to maintain that curve. In plywood every other veneer runs crosswise so it doesn't help in achieving or maintaining a fair curve.
3. If you made strips from thicker plywood you would also stand part to the outer veneers away and the resulting surface would not look very nice peeking out from under the fiberglass.
: I searched Strips made from plywood and got articles on Tape, tried Plywood
: strips and got Glue articles
: Has anyone made a stripper sawing strips from 4mm thick plywood? or am I
: crazy??
: I sent for Auk 14 plans and have built a CLC 17.
: TIA
