: now in the process of varnishing the kayak. using epifhanes varnish thinned
: out to 25% as per the can and now on 3rd coat. looks great except for some
: very tiny bubbles in finish. sanded to 600 grit between coats. temperature
: is 75 degrees. have I missed anything to get that perfect finish?
: Is this only possible if one sprays it on?

An absolutely perfect varnish job can be done by hand, has been done that way for years. Don't though expect a perfect job with 3 or 4 coats.
